  • "Isn't Auschwitz the name of a Beer?"

On a lighter note today:  From the Jerusalem Post.

The jews are having a fit - an estimated 90,000 British school-children identify "Auschwitz" as either a brand of German beer- and in related online articles -  a jewish holiday (understandable, given the transformation of "the holocaust" into the cult of Holocaustianity),  a type of bread;  or else identify Aushwitz as a country.

I found it interesting that an American based film group, Miramax, conducted the survey, relative the latest release of yet another holocaust film - though I don't understand why the company would have bothered - the big h has always been a box office guarantee.

The articles online related to this one are hilarious - though this particular article went into more detail.

Auschwitz is the name of a type of beer or a religious festival, some British schoolchildren believe, according to the results of a survey published in the Telegraph on Monday.

A survey of more than 1,000 secondary school pupils aged 11-16 revealed that a quarter still did not know the purpose of the Nazi death camp.

Of those, some 10 percent were not sure what it was, 10% believed it was a country bordering Germany, 2% thought it was a beer, 2 % said it was a religious festival and 1% believed it was a type of bread.

Miramax and the London Jewish Cultural Centre, which commissioned the survey to mark the DVD release of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, said that the results could be translate into 90,000 11 to 16-year-olds in the UK identifying Auschwitz as a drink and 45,000 mistaking it for bread.
